Che Yung Kung’s “In Between Octaves" Ramen House Wins Bronze at 2025 A’ Design Awards

New taipei city, Taiwan (ROC), July 20, 2025 /PRHow/

The design integrates a central axis and grid sequence to create a dialogue between traditional and contemporary spatial elements. Handwritten calligraphy lanterns frame the kitchen and dining areas, evoking the visual rhythm of a musical score. The open kitchen bar, wooden trusses with atmospheric lighting, stainless steel mesh, and a combination of metal and wooden grilles contribute to a layered, immersive environment. Guests are invited to observe the chefs at work, with the sounds of noodle-shaking and enthusiastic shouts enhancing the anticipation and authenticity of the dining experience.

Functionality and flow were key considerations, with an O-shaped circulation line connecting the inner and outer kitchens for efficient food preparation and service. The design also reflects the owner’s commitment to quality, as the ramen shop uses only natural ingredients and traditional cooking methods. Despite the challenge of a tight 45-day construction schedule to coincide with local Christmas events, the project successfully delivers a space where every detail-from lighting to materials-echoes the focused spirit of the ramen chef and the joy of savoring a bowl of ramen.
